Big Dog Taekwon-Do
Big Dog Taekwon-Do is a family oriented martial arts
school dedicated to making West Michigan families
healthier, safer, and stronger.
We opened our doors on
March 1, 2005, as the product of four hard-working and
dedicated martial artists: Mr. James Smith, V Dan, Mrs.
Marianne Armstrong, III Dan, Dr. Jeff Wilt, II Dan, and
Mrs. Sharon Spungen, II Dan. Mr. Smith has since
relocated to Colorado, however, we continue to carry
on with the ideals and vision the four of us shared when
we first started.

We offer a unique opportunity for individuals, couples,
parents, children, and teens to have fun, get fit, and
learn self defense skills.  Our
family program allows
parents and their children to experience the benefits of
exercise together!

We incorporate strength training, conditioning,
cardiovascular workouts, and aerobic activity into each
of our classes as well as teaching traditional ITF style
Taekwon-Do.

We also offer
self-defense seminars to promote
employee wellness and safety and are available to
teach youth groups and other organizations as well.

Our
Instructors teach traditional Taekwon-Do classes
based in the curriculum provided by the United States
Taekwon-Do Federation (USTF) and we are the only
USTF certified school in the Greater Grand Rapids area.
We teach real-life skills in age-appropriate ways, and
encourage parents to work with their children on safety
awareness and prevention as well as their martial arts
skills.  We are committed to teaching our students in
the tradition of the tenets of Taekwon-Do:  Courtesy,
Integrity, Perseverance, Self Control, and Indomitable
Spirit.
Miss Marianne and Miss
Sharon demonstrate some of
the more advanced self
defense techniques... with a
smile!
